1. Login
Our Online Statements offer the maximum level of security. For this reason the login procedure has three levels of protection: user ID, personal password and the authentication code. To login into the “Online Statements” of Bank Leumi (Switzerland) Ltd always use the Internet access www.leumi.ch and then click on Online Statements. Always type in the website address manually and never use a link.
- Keep your login information (user ID, personal password and authentication code) in a safe place and never leave it lying around.
- The first time you login, you will be asked to change your password.
- Never let anyone look over your shoulder when logging in.
- Never disclose your login information (user ID, personal password and authentication code) to anyone else (phishing).
- Bank Leumi (Switzerland) will never contact you directly and ask for your personal login information or account data.
2. Password
The password is one of the three items required to log in. It is a string of characters selected by the user and known only by him and the Online Statements system.
- Your password must be at least 8 characters long, a mixture of numbers and letters and contain a mix of upper/lower case letters and special characters (symbols).
- Change your password regularly.
- Do not use personal details such as names and dates of birth or any words found in a dictionary.
- Never write down your password or stored it on your computer.
- Bank Leumi (Switzerland) will never ask you for your personal password by telephone, Email or other means.
3. Check the website certificate
Simply having encryption on an Internet link does not mean you are communicating with the right system. Check you are on the right system by double clicking the padlock icon and seeing whether the certificate says ebanking.leumi.ch.
4. Do not open any other Internet pages
While you are not logged into our Online Statements never open another Internet page or Email at the same time. We also advise you not to access this service when using an unknown computer (such as a computer in an Internet café).
5. Terminating your Online Statements session correctly
To make sure you really do log out of your Online Statements session on our system, always use the <Logout> function to exit.
6. Clear your browser cache
After you log out from our Online Statements always clear the browser cache of your Internet software.
Important security tips
1. Keep your system up to date
Every operating system contains weaknesses that could affect the security of your computer. Software producers therefore offer regular updates or patches to close potential security loopholes.
- To make sure your computer is always fully protected, always use the latest version of your operating system.
- Never install programs from unknown sources: they could contain malicious software
2. Anti-virus protection
Anti-virus software protects the data on your system from viruses that can infect computer via Internet, Email, CD-ROM, DVD, USB-stick or other devices.
Even the best anti-virus programs do not offer full protection unless they are up to date.
3. Firewall
A firewall monitors all the incoming and outgoing data traffic between your computer and the Internet. These programs prevent your computer communicating with the Internet without your knowledge, i.e. by allowing malicious software to reveal sensitive information (i.e. password, etc.) or another computer to hack into yours.
The best firewall does not offer protection unless it is active.
4. Malware – malicious links and Email attachments
Malware (term for malicious and software) refers to computer programs that perform (harmful) functions which the user does not want. These programs usually run covertly in the background and are only noticed by the user when the damage has already been done. Malware is divided into the following categories: viruses, worms, Trojan horses, backdoors and spyware.
- Do not open any Emails that you are not expecting and whose sender you don’t know.
- Do not click on any links in Emails which are supposed to connect you to the login page of your Online Statements.
- Be careful with Email attachments as well.
- Delete any Email immediately and make sure you clear your Email waste bin afterwards.
